Loom Light is a dynamic monument that sheds light on the courage of Jan Zwartendijk and the countless unknown heroes who saved lives in the Eindhoven region during World War II. The sculpture is inspired by Zwartendijk's decisiveness and illustrates how an individual choice can have a far-reaching impact. Organic forms, light, and transparency come together in a monument that symbolizes active hope, connectedness, and humanity.

Up close, the layered skin of the sculpture unfolds. The irregularly protruding structure, built from thousands of 3D-printed layers of PET-G, is reminiscent of organically stacked glass. During the day, the material captures and reflects ambient light; as soon as dusk falls, the light seems to illuminate from the sculpture itself.

Inside, a soft mist of light slumbers, like a searchlight finding its way through the transparent layers. Visitors can activate the artwork by approaching it, after which a dynamic light pattern moves through the sculpture. The interaction makes visible how a seemingly small act can have a major effect – a reference to the choices of Jan Zwartendijk, who, through his actions, gave thousands of people a chance at a future.

Loom Light is een dynamisch monument dat licht werpt op de moed van Jan Zwartendijk en de talloze onbekende helden in de regio Eindhoven die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog levens redden. De sculptuur is geïnspireerd op Zwartendijks daadkracht en verbeeldt hoe een individuele keuze een verstrekkende impact kan hebben. Organische vormen, licht en transparantie komen samen in een monument dat symbool staat voor actieve hoop, verbondenheid en menselijkheid.

Van dichtbij ontvouwt zich de gelaagde huid van de sculptuur. De onregelmatig uitstulpende structuur, opgebouwd uit duizenden 3D-geprinte lagen PET-G, doet denken aan organisch gestapeld glas. Overdag vangt en reflecteert het materiaal het omgevingslicht; zodra de schemering valt, lijkt het licht vanuit de sculptuur zelf op te lichten.

Binnenin sluimert een zachte nevel van licht, als een zoeklicht dat zijn weg zoekt door de transparante lagen. Bezoekers kunnen het kunstwerk activeren door het te benaderen, waarna een dynamisch lichtpatroon door de sculptuur beweegt. De interactie maakt zichtbaar hoe een ogenschijnlijk kleine daad een groot effect kan hebben – een verwijzing naar de keuzes van Jan Zwartendijk, die met zijn handelen duizenden mensen een kans op een toekomst gaf.
