The native rabbit embodies the history, nature and symbolism of Heemskerk. It symbolises the continuity of life. A beacon of belonging: the connection between people, animals and the landscape.
The sculpture consists of steel discs with transparent, 3D-printed layers incorporating LED lighting. Film footage of waves, shot at various locations including Wijk aan Zee, moves through the transparent layers: rippling, rough or reflective.
Bunny Lights is constantly changing. The location, the time of day and the presence of visitors continually shape how the work is experienced. In this way, new memories and stories are created.

Het inheemse konijn draagt de geschiedenis, de natuur en de symboliek van Heemskerk in zich. Het symboliseert de continuïteit van het leven. Een baken voor het heem-zijn: de verbondenheid tussen mens, dier en landschap.
Het beeld bestaat uit stalen schijven met transparante, 3D-geprinte tussenlagen waarin LED-lichtis opgenomen. Filmopnames van golven, gemaakt op verschillende locaties waaronder Wijk aan Zee, bewegen door de transparante lagen: kabbelend, ruig of spiegelend.
Bunny Lights verandert onafgebroken. De plek, het moment van de dag en de aanwezigheid van bezoekers bepalen steeds opnieuw hoe het werk wordt ervaren. Zo ontstaan nieuwe herinneringen en verhalen.
