Flower from the Universe is an interactive light flower that appears to float above the surface. Through sensors, the flower senses the colors of its visitors and mixes them with those of other visitors via its petals. This makes it possible for the installation to change to any color through collaboration, creating a dynamic and interactive experience.
The heart of the installation is modelled after a neuron, a human nerve cell. It receives sensory stimuli and transmits them to our body via impulses. As a result, the flower and the audience become intertwined, resulting in a symbiosis between the artwork and its visitors.
The starting point of Flower from the Universe is the reciprocal relationship between people and plants. This relationship implies that both humans and plants support each other and depend on each other for their survival and well-being.
Plants play a crucial role in supporting life on earth by using various resources such as light, atmosphere and their environment. Through photosynthesis, which uses sunlight to produce nutrients and energy, plants feed themselves and produce oxygen and food for humans. Plants also bloom as beautifully as possible to attract visitors for reproduction, which is essential for their survival.
On the other hand, humans depend on plants for survival. Humans contribute to the spread and care of plants by building gardens, protecting forests and distributing seeds. In addition, people provide a suitable environment for plants through agricultural practices and environmental management.
These interactions create a symbiotic relationship in which both humans and plants support and depend on each other. Flower from the Universe symbolizes and reinforces this reciprocal relationship by actively involving visitors in changing the plant, highlighting the interdependence and cooperation between humans and nature.

Bloem uit het Universum
Flower from the Universe is een interactieve lichtbloem die boven de oppervlakte lijkt te zweven. Via sensoren registreert de bloem de kleuren van haar bezoekers en mengt deze via de bloembladen met die van andere bezoekers. Dit maakt het mogelijk om de installatie in elke gewenste kleur te veranderen door samenwerking, wat een dynamische en interactieve beleving creëert.
Het hart van de installatie is gemodelleerd naar een neuron, een menselijke zenuwcel. Deze ontvangt zintuiglijke prikkels en geeft deze via impulsen door aan ons lichaam.
