Flower from the Universe is an interactive light flower that appears to float above the ground. Using sensors, the flower detects the colors of its visitors and blends them with the colors of others through its petals. Through this collaboration, the installation can constantly change color, creating a dynamic and interactive experience.
The heart of the installation is modeled after a neuron, a human nerve cell. Just like a neuron, the flower receives sensory stimuli and transmits them in the form of impulses. This causes the flower and the audience to become intertwined, resulting in a symbiosis between the artwork and its visitor.
The reciprocal relationship between humans and plants forms the starting point of Flower from the Universe. Humans and plants support one another and depend on each other for their survival and well-being.
Plants play a crucial role in life on Earth. Through photosynthesis, they convert sunlight into energy and nutrients. In doing so, they produce oxygen and food, which are essential for human life. With their colors and scents, flowers attract visitors for pollination and reproduction—a process necessary for their survival.
On the other hand, humans contribute to the spread and care of plants, for example by creating gardens, protecting forests, and caring for the environment.
Flower from the Universe visualizes this symbiosis in an interactive way. It highlights how humans and plants need each other—not only for survival, but also for beauty, inspiration, and a healthy planet.
Bloem uit het Universum
Flower from the Universe is een interactieve lichtbloem die lijkt te zweven boven de grond. Via sensoren registreert de bloem de kleuren van haar bezoekers en mengt deze met de kleuren van anderen via de bloembladen. Door samenwerking kan de installatie voortdurend van kleur veranderen, wat een dynamische en interactieve beleving creëert.
Het hart van de installatie is gemodelleerd naar een neuron, een menselijke zenuwcel. Net als een neuron ontvangt de bloem zintuiglijke prikkels en geeft deze door in de vorm van impulsen. Hierdoor raken de bloem en het publiek met elkaar verstrengeld, wat resulteert in een symbiose tussen het kunstwerk en haar bezoeker.
De wederkerige relatie tussen mensen en planten. vormt het uitgangspunt van Flower from the Universe. Mensen en planten ondersteunen elkaar en zijn afhankelijk van elkaar voor hun overleving en welzijn.
