Flower from the Universe is an interactive light flower, floating as it were above the surface, with a heart in the shape of a human nerve cell. Through sensors, the flower registers the colours of its visitors. It absorbs these colours and through the petals, they mix with the colours of other visitors. By working together, one can change the installation to any colour. The heart of the plant is a human nerve cell. A neuron receives sensory stimuli and transmits them to our body via impulses. Flower and audience become intertwined. A symbiosis is created between the artwork and its visitors.

The starting point of Flower from the Universe is the sensitive reciprocity between people and plants. Plants support life on earth by using various resources: light, atmosphere and their environment. Through photosynthesis, using sunlight to produce nutrients and energy, plants feed themselves and make oxygen and food for humans. Plants bloom as beautifully as possible to attract visitors for reproduction. Conversely, humans survive in relation to plants. A cross-pollination between humans and plants emerges: Flower from the Universe.

Flower from the Universe is een interactieve lichtbloem, die als het ware boven de oppervlakte zweeft, met een hart in de vorm van een menselijke zenuwcel. De bloem registreert via sensoren de kleuren van haar bezoekers. Zij absorbeert deze kleuren en via de bloembladen vermengen zij zich met de kleuren van andere bezoekers. Door samenwerking kan men de installatie veranderen in elke gewenste kleur. Het hart van de installatie is een menselijke zenuwcel. Een neuron ontvangt zintuiglijke prikkels en geeft deze via impulsen aan ons lichaam door. Bloem en publiek raken verstrengeld. Er ontstaat een symbiose tussen het kunstwerk en haar bezoekers.

Uitgangspunt van de Bloem uit het Universum is de sensitieve wederkerigheid tussen mensen en planten. Planten ondersteunen het leven op aarde door gebruik te maken van verschillende hulpbronnen: licht, atmosfeer en hun omgeving. Via fotosynthese, het gebruik maken van zonlicht om voedingsstoffen en energie te produceren, voeden planten zichzelf en maken zij zuurstof en voedsel aan voor de mens. Planten bloeien zo mooi mogelijk om bezoekers aan te trekken voor hun reproductie. Omgekeerd overleeft de mens in relatie tot planten. Er ontstaan een kruisbestuiving tussen mens en plant: Bloem uit het Universum.
