Licht Echo


LICHT ECHO maakt de onzichtbare ritmes van de stad zichtbaar. De voortdurende wisselwerking tussen mens, leefomgeving en infrastructuur wordt vertaald naar een langzaam bewegend lichtlandschap dat voortdurend verandert. De stad verschijnt als een ademend organisme, waarin licht, water, bladeren en luchten door de onderdoorgang lijken te stromen. De tweeëntwintig zuilen vangen deze beweging als een echo: trillend, wuivend en verschuivend in kleur en intensiteit, als het langzaam veranderende licht van een zonsondergang.


Het licht pulst door de passage en verschijnt en verdwijnt als een echo van het landschap, de stad en iedereen die erdoorheen beweegt.


Het kunstwerk Licht Echo is een cadeau van de gemeente Amsterdam aan de bewoners van Amsterdam Noord, ter ere van 750 jaar Amsterdam. Het werk kwam mede tot stand met de participatie van meiden en jonge vrouwen uit Noord en leerlingen van de middelbare scholen Vonk en Noorderlicht.


Locatie Brug 934, onderdoorgang tussen de Loenermark en de Rode Kruisstraat, Amsterdam Noord.

Light Echo


LICHT ECHO makes the invisible rhythms of the city visible. The continuous interplay between people, the living environment, and infrastructure is translated into a slowly moving light landscape that constantly changes. The city appears as a breathing organism, in which light, water, leaves, and skies seem to flow through the underpass. The twenty-two columns capture this movement like an echo: vibrating, swaying, and shifting in color and intensity, like the slowly changing light of a sunset.


The light pulses through the passage, appearing and disappearing like an echo of the landscape, the city and everyone moving through it.


The artwork Licht Echo is a gift from the municipality of Amsterdam to the residents of Amsterdam Noord, in honor of Amsterdam's 750th anniversary. The work was created with the participation of girls and young women from Noord and the secondary schools Vonk and Noorderlicht.
