Private Light refers to Eindhoven’s origins as a city of light. On the site where the light bulb factory once helped shape the city’s character, a single point of light appears, evoking a universal moment: And then there was light.

A single point of light that recalls a human innovation that changed the world: the moment when electric light transformed everyday life forever.

You experience the public space and its invisible stories anew. With a quiet gesture, the artwork brings the factory’s history out of the shadows and brings it close to us once more.

For a moment, the city becomes personal and intimate: Private Light.

Private Light verwijst naar de oorsprong van Eindhoven als stad van licht. Op de plek waar ooit de gloeilampenfabriek het karakter van de stad mede bepaalde, verschijnt een enkel lichtpunt dat teruggrijpt naar een universeel moment: en toen was er licht.

Een enkel lichtpunt dat herinnert aan een menselijke innovatie die de wereld veranderde: het moment waarop elektrisch licht het dagelijks leven voorgoed veranderde.

Je ervaart de openbare ruimte en haar onzichtbare verhalen opnieuw. Met een stil gebaar haalt het kunstwerk de geschiedenis van de fabriek uit de schaduw en brengt deze opnieuw dichtbij.

Voor een moment wordt de stad persoonlijk en intiem: Private Light.
